Project In Focus

Carlton Prayer Rooms, University of Bradford

Project Summary:

With a diverse campus including a large population of Muslim students and staff, the University of Bradford required a new faith centre and prayer facility to be located in an old Waterstones bookshop in the existing Carlton building. The refurbishment demanded a detailed and informative design process to incorporate the client’s high-specification energy-efficient technology and to meet the religious needs of its users. The completed centre is well insulated and eco-friendly, with light wells and natural ventilation, absence-detection lighting and recycling points throughout. It features modern social spaces, purpose-built ablution facilities and a large, naturally lit open prayer area.

By providing both project management and quantity surveying services, Aspect 4 gave the client a single, approachable point of contact for all cost and programme information throughout the process.
